About Free The Children
Free The Children has been operating in Kenya since 1999. Through their Adopt a Village program, they’ve worked with many communities across the Maasai Mara region of Kenya. In addition to clean water projects, they have built a health centre, multiple schools and school rooms, an all-girls boarding secondary school, libraries, kitchens and teachers’ accommodations. How much does it cost to participate?
Your One Climb registration fee is $20, with 100 percent of the proceeds directed to Free The Children's special project in Kipsongol. But don't stop there: we encourage you to raise at least $50 in total. With registration you not only will be part of the coolest party on the Grouse Grind, but also receive a download ticket and access to Grouse Mountain activities including the Lumberjack Show, Birds in Motion demonstration, ranger talk with grizzly bears Grinder and Coola and more.
How can I get cash and cheque donations to Free the Children?
Cash and cheque donations can be dropped off on the day of Whistler Water One Climb at our Free The Children table. You can also mail cheques and money orders to

Cheques should be made out to 'Free The Children' and should include a note that they are for One Climb. Please don’t forget to add this to your fundraising total through your online fundraising page.
I registered a team – does everyone on my team still need to register?
Nope! It’s simple – when you register your team, simply share the username and password of your team page with the rest of your team members. This way, either the team leader or other team members can login in to your team profile page, and add their name to the list of team members! The login button is found in the top right corner of the One Climb fundraising homepage: www.raiseathon.ca/oneclimb
What if everyone on my team doesn’t have an email address?
Registering a team only requires one email address, and that will be entered when your team leader registers your team. When the team leader receives any email updates, he or she can forward that email on to all other team members.
If the minimum funds raised to participate is $20, is that all our team needs to raise?
The minimum fundraising is $20 for each person on the team, all going towards the project in Kipsongol. Of course, we love to see everyone raise even more and earn great prizes!
Are we eligible for fundraising prizes if we are on a team?
Absolutely – your team can earn prizes at each fundraising level, as long as the average per person is equal to that level. So for example, if you have four people on your team, and you raise a team total of $200, then you all get the $50 fundraising level prize.
What link do I send out when asking for donations?
When you register, you will receive a confirmation email that includes two links: One link is to your public profile. This is the link that you can send out when asking for donations. It will take donors directly to your public profile page, and all they need to do is click the button “CLICK HERE TO SPONSOR [your name]”. Or, direct them to the homepage: www.raiseathon.ca/oneclimb, and they can search for an individual participant or team by clicking “SEARCH FOR PARTICIPANT”.
How do I get the word out about my participation in Whistler Water One Climb so that my friends and family can donate?
It’s easy! Just copy the link to your personal One Climb fundraising page, and share it on your social media channels (i.e. Facebook or Twitter) with one of the handy graphics in our One Climb tool kit.
Who’s taking part in One Climb?
People of all ages who support Free The Children and water projects in Kenya.
Can adults hike too?
Absolutely. Whistler Water One Climb is open to all in our community . In fact, we have several corporate groups also committing to climb. In order to obtain a wristband which grants you free download ride, you do need to register.
